Hello footie fans,
I’m back from some much needed R&R (soccer and internet free I might add) and there’s a lot to catch up on.
Nothing is easy with this guy.
The Argentine striker, who’s been making me smile lately with all the hilarious hyperbolic quotes he’s been giving to English football journalists (“My dream is to be an idol in English football”, “I didn’t speak English but nevertheless I made myself understood on the pitch.”) is reportedly on his way to Old Trafford. But the shady business practices that he and his “agent” Kia Joorabchian have become known for, especially at West Ham, who still have Tevez under contract for the next three years, have made his summer transfer anything but routine.
The league is a worried that Joorabchian, who claimed to “own” Tevez last January when he completed his controversial move to Upton Park, will get involved again and demand that a percentage of the transfer fee go to his company, Media Sports Investments. Premiership officials have stressed that this cannot happen and that West Ham should be paid directly. Stay tuned.
There’s also talk that Tevez will be sent to Manchester United on loan–for now–until all these complications are sorted out.
Phew! What a mess!
